I am at the crossroads in my life. I know what I want and know what needs to be done (losing weight, paying off bills and saving money) but I just can't seem to get going.
It's hard when you have two people eating two different ways who have two entirely different ideas of how to lose weight, manage money and how to handle the debt. I don't want to file bankruptcy, I want to pay off the debt I owe and I want to start saving money for a house and newer car. I don't want to 'diet' I want a healthier lifestyle. Diets come and go; but I want to make life long changes.
I want a closer walk with the Lord.
It feels like that every time I start making progress I get derailed. I know a lot of it is emotional. I ask what lifestyle changes should we make and he says "You need to drink less soda" and "You need to do this or that". I suggest we pick three food changes and 3 non food changes, but all he wants to do it talk about dieting. "I want to get lots of chicken and eggs" Well, that's sounds like an interesting 'diet' but I don't want a diet. I want a healthier lifestyle. The problem is when I buy food, like granola bars, etc. he eats a handful at once. He doesn't eat the recommended serving size of anything. It makes it hard for me to budget food and plan a menu when it is eaten in two days. So... here is what I am going to do. I'm going to plan my food budget, do my shopping and keep extra stuff somewhere else. I will plan a weekly menu (breakfast, lunch, supper and snacks). Post it on the fridge with serving sizes and calories.
Here's where I am starting.
I am removing two items from our pantry:
Pasta
White Sugar
I am LIMITING these items:
White Bread
Butter
Pork
Red Meat
All Soda
I am AVOIDING:
Fried foods
Buffets
Fast food
I am Increasing:
Water (up to 140 oz per day)
Oat Bran (Fiber)
FRESH Veggies
FRESH Fruit
I am ADDING:
Multi-Vitamins (Spring Valley Women's Pack)
- Fish oil 1000mg
- 1800 IU of vitamin D3
- 1100 mg of calcium
- Cranberry
- Ultra multi-vitamin
I am also researching green tea and other supplements.
Exercise:
Walk every other day- work up to daily
Stretch daily
Tennis once or twice a week
Will eventually join health club to start circuit and weight training.
My current weigh in is 280lbs. That is about 5 lbs lost so far in 2012. My first mini-goal is 265.
